It boggles my mind that MSU can raise $10 million for the stadium seating in the Pepsi section but fails to address the other problems on campus, such as parking. Instead of changing the seating (by the way, the end zone will be the new student section), why not build a multi-level parking garage in the SB and pay parking lots so those of us who pay for the full-year, multi-lot parking pass do not have to park in the south forty or the MSU Police parking lot? They could also build a secure storage area for those students who drive to campus and never move their cars unless they are heading home for a long weekend, spring break or summer vacation; this will also free up more parking spots.
Of course, I have to agree with Mr. Heide about the “cushioners”; unfortunately, they are in every parking lot. It is amazing that when there is a bit of snow on the ground, people forget that there are yellow lines on the ground marking the spaces. Parking services could alleviate this problem by at least trying to clean the lots prior to the beginning of the school day; at least make a few passes so the outside edges of the lines are visible.
Granted we are not all from Montana, but a little common courtesy when it comes to parking would go a long way. Maybe our beloved president and her staff, as well as the Board of Regents members, could give up their reserved parking spots and waste fuel driving around in circles looking for a spot to park. During their annual meeting, instead of closing off the parking lot, let them find spots as we have to: first come, first served. I would be safe in saying that if they had to walk through the mud in the F lot, a parking garage would be on the agenda. The stadium is used for home football games (practice not included), so put the money towards something that is used every day.
