What event do you compete in and what does it entail?
The decathlon.

Editor’s Note. The decathlon includes ten events. The participant receives a score in each event and at the end the scores are combined to determine the places.  Decathlons are held on two consecutive days; the first day hosts the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meter dash.  The second day is the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500-meter run.

Why did you start participating in Track and Field?
I randomly got into it. I wanted to make it to the Big Sky State Games and my dad was encouraging so I stuck with it.

What is your favorite thing about Track and Field and why?
There is a good team atmosphere and you have your own individual thing as well.

What is your motivation before a competition?
Listening to music.

Are you planning on continuing to compete in Track and Field after graduation?
I’m not planning on it, but I would if I were good enough. I would want go to the Olympics if possible.

What do you think is the key to your success as a student athlete?
Time management.

Do you have any awards or achievements you have received while involved in your sport?
All conference: heptathlon, decathlon 2011 (3rd and 2nd respectively).  USTFCCCA all-academic 2011 (must have a cumulative GPA above 3.3 and either qualify for nationals or be ranked in the top 48 in the nation in your event)  Two years varsity letter. I also just broke the school record in the heptathlon last week, but that probably won't stand for the rest of the season since the other multi and I will hopefully be exceeding that mark later.

Why did you come to Montana State?
Both of my parents went here.  I wasn’t going to run track but decided to in the spur of the moment.

Do you have any other hobbies/activities/interests?
I like to read, hang out with people and watch movies.

What is your favorite class at MSU and why?
Reason and Reality, a philosophy course I took freshman year.

Is there anything else you would like to tell students/readers about MSU Track and Field?
Our track team is really competitive.  During the indoor season there are meets almost every Friday night and they’re pretty fun.
