A not so euphoric season two

“Euphoria” has been all the rage since fans had to wait three years for the second season to premiere. This captivating show is known for its beloved actors, exotic make up, high school drama, heartbreaks, hookups and an absurd amount of glitter. A new episode is released each week, which lets anticipation build and predictions to fly amongst viewers. With only a few aired episodes, emotions are already all over the place.

Season two starts on New Year's Eve, when the cast is reunited at a party. The night quickly takes a turn when Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) hooks up with Nate (Jacob Elordi) and almost gets caught by Maddy (Alexa Demie). Rue gets higher than a kite with her new friend Elliot (Dominic Fike), and Fezco (Angus Cloud) beats the life out of Nate. The craziest part is that this all took place in just one episode. Fans' opinions, emotions and predictions were all over social media the next morning.

Cassie shocked her fans by betraying her loyal best friend, Maddy — the last person anyone wants to mess with. Many think that Cassie is just going through a hard time especially after her breakup with McKay (Algee Smith) but others, including myself, want to see reality slap her in the face when Maddy finds out she’s been sleeping with her ex. The people who stand for Cassie are extremely questionable and those that want to see her pay for her actions are most definitely loyal friends.

Nate is just as much to blame for these actions as Cassie is, but fans can’t seem to see past his good looks. In fact, I don’t really blame them. I would like to see Nate and Maddy back together because their toxicity is unbeatable as far as entertainment goes.

After Fezco beat up Nate he gained a large following of fans who can’t get enough of him this season. Lexi (Maude Apatow) is also crushing on Fez, and fans and I are dying to see them together. I predict their relationship will be a dangerous one given Fez is in a rather tricky business. He’s already been in some sticky situations this season but thanks to Ashtray (Javon Walton) he is still alive and well. Well, that might be an over statement, but I’m assuming he’ll be better once he secures the bag with Lexi.

Rumors are going around that Ashtray may be Nate’s missing little brother. This prediction is pretty far fetched but it would definitely add some crazy plot twists and probably more screen time for the beloved Ashtray.

As we know, Rue has fallen back into her old ways again but this time she has a companion by her side, Elliott. He’s hard to dislike but we all know he can’t be good for Rue’s addiction. Fans seem to want Rue and Elliott together after some relationship drama with Jules. Although I’m a big fan of Dominic Fike’s I don’t think he’s what Rue needs. I do think he will be creating a lot of issues this season, including breaking up Jules and Rue by getting with one, or even both of them.

Lastly, Kat (Barbie Ferreira) and Ethan (Austin Abrams) aren’t doing so well — even though Ethan would say otherwise. I predict Kat will end up breaking up with him so she can go on a self journey and discover who she really is. As much of a great guy as Ethan is, he dulls down Kat’s chaotic but pointed energy, and I want to see her bounce back from this self-loathing stage.

As everything continues to unravel I suspect this season will end with a death or two and a concerning amount of ruined relationships. After the first season we know we can count on another painful cliffhanger.

Cat Quips:

  • Kaylee Karjala, sophomore, said Euphoria has “kept [her] on her toes” so far. As far as Cassie’s forbidden hookup goes Karjala says, “I don’t really blame her because it’s Jacob Elordi but it’s definitely not cool with girl code.”
  • Mirandy Beaumont, freshman, says this season has “taken a weird turn” as the show has become “more pornohraphic.” Regarding Rue's relapse, Beaumont “saw it coming.”
  • Ainsley Hauk, sophomore, really likes the new “vibe” of this season. Hauk is a big fan of Rue’s new companion, Elliott. “I really like him, I also just love Dominic Fike so I’m obsessed with Elliott.”
