Chilly weather can’t stop farmer’s markets from coming together
Fresh fruit and vegetables, locally cured meats and cheeses, handmade jewelry and art and vintage clothing. What's there not to love about farmer’s markets? Now, I know you may think that farmer’s market season is over, but fortunately, Bozeman isn’t leaving you hanging. The Winter Farmers’ market at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds can cure all your post-market depression. The apostrophe at the end of farmers' market emphasizes the market’s motto that it was “created by farmers and it continues to be operated by farmers, for farmers.”
The market has over 30 vendors each week. Here are a few vendors to look forward to visiting and what they have to offer at their stand:
Amaltheia Organic Dairy, Farmented and Gallatin Valley Botanical have a great assortment of vegetables. As far as local meats and cheeses, Amaltheia and Grotto Meats are worth checking out. If you're looking for the perfect snack as you check out other vendors grab a pierogi at Vickie’s Pierogies. Or if you need to find something to spice up your meal, head over to Ridgeline Spice Co. or Roots Kitchen.
The market has been around for over ten years now as the community craves direct producer-to-consumer experience now more than ever. Mark your calendar and support these hard-working farmers every other weekend from Saturday, Oct. 8, through May 27.
As you save a date to make your way over to the market, remember that not all vendors accept credit cards so bring some spare cash just in case. You also can choose to get SNAP dollars at the Market Information Table. This allows you to swipe your card in exchange for tokens you can spend at the vendors.
If you’re interested in becoming a vendor you can apply on the Winter Farmers’ market website after reviewing the market guidelines for 2022-2023.
As the chilly weather sets in, make sure to stop by for fresh veggies and your farmer’s market fix.
