Alright, there’s absolutely no way that I am the only one who has noticed this. The worst part is that with a bit of forethought it could have been avoided. Each year the university picks a theme for homecoming. It’s tradition, and why not? Last year, they played into MSU’s 125th anniversary. The year before that the theme was “There’s no place like home.” This year they chose “Honey, I’m Home” and included a variety of bee-themed graphics. At first glance, it seems like a perfectly good theme. I mean, who doesn’t like cheesy slogans and cute honey bees? It’s all great, except for the fact that on Saturday the Bobcats are taking on Sacramento State. For those who don’t know, their mascot is the Hornets. Maybe it’s just me, but bees and hornets seem a little too close for comfort. Does anyone even know what the difference is between a bee and a hornet? I understand the fun associated with the catch phrase and, hey, bees even match Bobcat gold, but this seems more like a slip-up than a slam dunk.
