Orange you glad it’s fall?

The leaves are turning into an assortment of red, orange and yellow colors, Pillsbury Halloween cookies are available at almost every grocery store, Halloweentown and Hocus Pocus are on multiple streaming platforms — it's the best time of the year: fall.

Although fall may not last long, especially since snow is already in the forecast, there are a few festive activities you’ll want to add to your calendar to get your fall fix in.

The most obvious, and probably beloved, are the local pumpkin patches. There’s a couple different places to choose from around town. Bozeman Maze, known for its creative maze shapes, offers hay rides, concessions, pumpkin picking and many more activities you won't want to miss out on. Its fun maze shape this year is a UFO abducting a cow.

Another great option is Gallatin Valley Botanical at Rocky Creek Farms, which not only has a lovely view, but great apple cider pressing, pumpkin picking, animals to visit and of course hay rides through their apple orchard. Now, put on your favorite fall sweater, grab some friends and go pick a plump pumpkin to carve and put on your front porch. Don’t forget to toast your pumpkin seeds either, they make for a very high-protein, tasty snack.

If you're more into the spooky side of this season and don’t want to partake in the typical wholesome activities, then haunted escape rooms are the activity for you. Escape 406 offers a few different rooms, one of them being Mystery at Bleakwood Manner, where escapees try to discover the cause of death of Lord Astor. Bozeman Breakout also offers a spine-chilling experience with their Asylum room. Your goal is to break out of the room before your treatment of a transorbital lobotomy begins.

Now, if you're looking for something that spawns even more thrill, then the Annual Townsend Zombie Run is right up your alley. This is a 5K run, held only an hour away in Townsend. Participants can choose to either be humans or zombies and will then compete in a capture the flag game where the humans run away from the zombies. There will be hidden prizes along the course that you can find, as long as you're able to pass the obstacles. There will also be prizes for best dressed zombie, fastest runner and most flags captured.

The weather is absolutely blissful during this time of year, a little brisk, but the sun is still shining on your face, heating you back up. Not only is the weather great, but the color around town is phenomenal. Get out and take a hike up Hyalite Canyon or Middle Cottonwood to take advantage of Montana’s autumn while it lasts.
