This past weekend, MSU Volleyball traveled to Chicago for three matches in the Hampton Inn Ramblers Challenge. The Cats finished the weekend 1-2, but ended on a high note by beating Loyola Maryland in four sets, 25-19, 24-26, 25-21, 25-18. Hannah Scott and Kira Thomsen lead the way notching a combined 33 of the Cats 63 kills. Scott’s effort over the weekend earned her a spot on the all-tournament team. Both senior libero Allyssa Rizzo and sophomore setter Libby Christensen had impressive days in the win on Saturday, ending with 34 digs and 51 assists respectively.

MSU third-year head coach Daniel Jones noticed some positive takeaways from their trip to the Windy City. “What we saw was the evolution of the team over three tough matches,” Jones said, “I think this weekend featured four evenly matched teams. To go down 0-2 yesterday and come back to win today, what we witnessed was a degree of growth from the team, both from a technical and tactical standpoint. We just rode out the highs and lows this weekend and we’re looking to keep getting better each day.”

MSU returns back to Montana for their next three matches. The first two are slated to be played in Missoula against UTEP on Friday and CSU Bakersfield on Saturday. The first home game in Shroyer Gym is Tuesday, September 17 at 6 p.m., where MSU hosts Seattle U.
