See You Later, Alligator

Dear readers,

As graduation nears, it’s difficult for me to put into words just how amazing the last four years have been. After countless hours of homework, classes, and late nights, it’s hard to believe the end is near. But thankfully it is. Wrapping up my time here at MSU, there are many things I will miss and working for the Exponent is one of them.

I began working at the Exponent my freshman year when I joined the sports section after encouragement from the sports editor at the time, my brother, Davis. Without his prompting, I never would’ve known I had a passion for journalism. I definitely did not expect to enjoy the work as much as I did, and I definitely never thought I would end up as Editor-in-Chief. But I am so happy I did. The past three and a half years have included some of my most favorite memories: from hours of laughing with the staff, to the friendships I made while here, to the amazing opportunities I was given – there are many memories I will cherish forever. While this was the most challenging jobs at times, working at the Exponent has made me a better writer, student, leader, and friend and I’m sad to see my time here end although I will be happy to have Wednesday nights free again.

To my wonderful editorial staff: you all have made late nights at the office more bearable (even if only slightly), and I am excited to see where your endeavors take you. Wangmo, Duncan, Kylie, Brendan, Harper, and Zach, you made my life much easier and I cherish the friendships we made in this office. You all have exciting things ahead of you, and I look forward to seeing where your dreams and passions take you. Jana, you are such a dear friend and I was grateful to have you as my second-in-command. Caleb, you make the office a funnier place, and the Exponent is lucky to have you as incoming Editor-in-Chief. You’re the best person for the job (After me, of course). To Peter, the Exponent’s professional advisor, every staff member has been lucky to have your advice and experience advising us at our time here. Your guidance has been priceless to me and I appreciate all you have done for the Exponent over the years. And to the readers, you all make this possible. Your support and readership is what keeps us going on those late Wednesday nights – without you there would be no Exponent.
