Spooky Dance music takes over Bozeman

Last weekend, with Halloween creeping just around the corner, Bozemanites were itching to get into the seasonal spooky mood of late October. On Saturday Oct. 26, Moonlight Productions, a party entertainment service based in Bozeman, presented the perfect opportunity for everyone to have a sinister night of fun.

Despite the winter blizzard, ravers from the area gathered together at the new Story Mill venue for “Quarantine”: Bozeman’s largest Halloween celebration. The event is based around showcasing Montana’s premier EDM artists.

Upon arriving at Story Mill, loud EDM music quickly found its way to attendees’ ears as the lights that accompanied each artist lit up the sky. Everyone started dancing as soon as they walked in and continued to dance on into the late night. The event was capped off with a 21+ afterparty just down the road at The Filling Station.

The lineup included more than 16 different artists, mostly locals from the area. MSU’s very own alum, Nate G, performed his set at 8 p.m. His music has been described as “a crisp melodic sound of dubstep, trap, and future bass.” MSU students and Bozeman citizens showed appreciation to the alum with a mosh pit for the ages.

The event also featured artists like Party Sauce, Slice Boyz, Downpour, and its main artist, Tynan, who was scheduled to perform starting at 9 p.m. Although Saturday’s storm did not stop Bozemanites from showing up to party, Montana’s weather prevented Oklahoma’s dark trap artist, Tynan, from making it to the event. Tynan ended up stuck in Billings, which as unfortunate as that is, is still better than being stuck in Missoula. To make up for his absence at Story Mill, Tynan made it to The Filling Station for the after-party, where he did not disappoint.

The event also included vendors and spooky Halloween themed art installations. Above the stages hung hauntingly accurate skeleton renditions and a mannequin in a gas mask that seemed a little too real observing the audience from the sidelines.

Although it was freezing cold, wet, and muddy, the event had a great turnout, even in the absence of its main attraction. The unpredictability of Montana’s weather did not dampen the spirits of ravers in Bobcat Country on Saturday night as they headbanged and danced to the electric dubstep music.
