After serving for five years as the MSU Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Brian Fish’s contract was not renewed. The decision came from MSU Director of Athletics Leon Costello as the Men’s basketball team finished below .500 for Fish’s fifth straight year. On Sunday, March 17 immediately following the conclusion of the Big Sky Conference Tournament, Costello sent out a press release that read:

“After a thorough review of the men’s basketball program, today I met with [Fish] and informed him of my decision not to renew his contract; I also thanked [Fish] for his years of service to MSU.” The release ended stating, “This type of decision is always hard and one I do not take lightly.  We are grateful to [Fish] for his dedication to MSU and the men’s basketball program. We wish [Fish] the best in his future endeavors.”

During his five-year tenure at MSU, Fish’s record was 65-92 and his only win in the conference tournament came this past season. MSU is currently looking for a new head coach to fill Fish’s position.
