The best bars you don't go to

There are a few staple bars downtown like Bar IX, Rocking R Bar and El Camino that MSU students flock to on the weekends. These places are great, but the Bozeman bar scene has so much more to offer. If you are tired of your same old spots, here are some new places to try: 

Valhalla Meadery

 If you are looking for a new drinking experience, I highly recommend Valhalla Meadery. The bar offers a wide range of different locally crafted meads. There are many varieties, so you won’t run out of flavors to try easily. Along with their mead, they offer an excellent selection of Scandinavian-style food. Though the menu is expensive for a typical student, they offer a happy hour from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, where you can buy some of their delicious appetizers for less.

Brigade

 Brigade is a fancy French restaurant on Main Street. The prices here are pretty expensive. However, Brigade has one of the best happy hours in town. They serve $3 draft beers, $3 martinis and $3 oysters from 3-6 p.m. every day. If you are looking for a special outing but don’t want to run up a large tab, this is the happy hour to hit.

The Bacchus Pub

 This historic Bozeman pub was founded in the 1960s and still has one of the best atmospheres in town. Located on Main Street, it offers a slightly calmer place to socialize. The bar includes wine, cocktails and 24 rotating beers on tap, so there is always something new to try. The Bacchus Pub also offers a full food menu and is a great place to grab dinner.

The Devil’s Toboggan

 The Devil’s Toboggan is another very fancy but welcoming bar. On their website, they say, “We dress up so you don’t have to.” If you want to try a delicious cocktail, this is the place to go. If you are on a budget, they offer a Happy Hour from 4-6 p.m. every day, which includes $4 draft beers and $4 cocktails.
