22-year-old arrested, appears in court after fatal shooting outside Rocking R Bar in Bozeman

Judge Bryan Adams set 22-year-old Jakob Lundberg's bail at $1.5 million.

If Lundberg makes bail, he will be required to wear a GPS monitor.

Investigators with Bozeman Police confirmed they located the gun using a trained K-9.

22-year-old Jakob Lundberg appeared in court on Tuesday after his arrest Monday for allegedly shooting a man dead outside of the Rocking R Bar in Bozeman. Lundberg was arrested on charges of deliberate homicide, criminal endangerment and tampering with evidence.

According to court documents, police responded to the Rocking R Bar at around 12:44 a.m. Monday. Staff told police that two men were involved in an altercation and escorted outside, where it continued. Lundberg reportedly walked to his vehicle and returned with a gun before fatally shooting 29-year-old Sidney Callaghan multiple.

Lundberg was "apprehended in his vehicle," police said in the probable cause affidavit, after he fled the scene. Witnesses described his red Subaru.

According to court documents, Lundberg indicated to police that he threw the gun out of his car, and it still has not been located.

Lundberg's father told police that his son said he had shot someone. Court documents said Lundberg did not make a voluntary statement to police, but made "spontaneous statements" indicating regret. Security footage from the Rocking R Bar also shows Lundberg shooting the man on the sidewalk outside the bar.

Lundberg was booked in the Gallatin County Detention Center and held on no bond.

BOZEMAN, Mont. — A person died after a shooting early May 25 outside a bar in the 200 block of E. Main St. in Bozeman.

A press release from the City of Bozeman said officers were called there at 12:44 a.m. after a report that someone had been shot and the gunman left in a vehicle.

Police said officers tried life-saving measures at the scene. The victim was taken to Bozeman Health Deaconess, where they were later pronounced dead.

Investigators said officers quickly found the suspect, pulled the vehicle over and took that person into custody. During the early part of the investigation, police arrested a 22-year-old man on a deliberate homicide charge.

Police said there was no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation was still active as of May 25.
