‘American Idol’: John Foster Reflects on Show Milestone & Teases ‘Exciting Things’
John Foster‘s life changed forever when he came in second place on Season 23 of American Idol in 2025. Perhaps the most special moment of his journey on the show, though, was when he got to return to his Louisiana hometown to perform for fans ahead of the finale. One year later, he reflected on that memory in an emotional Instagram post.
“On this day last year, I stood in front of over 14,000 people and sobbed tears of gratitude on what was officially declared ‘John Foster Day’ in the State of Louisiana,” Foster wrote.
He then recalled the specifics of that day, adding, “An interstate was stopped for my motorcade, I was given the keys to all of my local cities, I received presidential treatment at our State Capitol for the presentation of my proclamations from both the State House and State Senate, visited local schools, met hundreds of people, and finished the night playing for over 14,000 lovely supporters.”
Foster said he is “forever grateful” to those who put the day together and showed up for him. “This entire journey has been beyond any of my dreams, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store this year and hopefully many more years to come,” he continued.

The country singer also concluded his message with an exciting tease about the future. “Please stay tuned because there are some really exciting things in the works that I’ll be sharing very soon!” he shared.
Foster has certainly been keeping busy over the past year, with tons of performances, including several at the Grand Ole Opry. While he has yet to release a full-length album, he put out some songs in 2025 and is seemingly hinting at more to come in the near future. Foster also already has several shows on the books this summer.
