Butte police blotter: Pistol whipping, public urination, pedestrian assaulted, stolen bike

Assault with weapon

Officers responded to a disturbance at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday in the 400 block of West Daly Street.

It is alleged Santerrika A. Gilmore, 26, of Butte walked into a residence and struck a woman in the back of the head with a revolver, causing the bullet to be discharged into the couch. She also reportedly stopped the other woman from using her cellphone.

Gilmore was arrested for partner or family member assault causing bodily injury, aggravated burglary, assault with a weapon, along with tampering with a communication device.

Public urination

Late Thursday night, a man later identified as Richard A. Boggess, 59, of Seeley Lake, allegedly urinated outside CVS Pharmacy, 1275 Harrison Ave.

When officers arrived, Boggess had gotten in his car and was parked in the rear of CVS.

According to the police report, Boggess appeared to be intoxicated and was unsteady on his feet. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and probation violation.

Leaving the scene

A two-vehicle accident occurred Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Montana and Galena streets. When officers arrived, one of the cars had fled the scene.

The suspected vehicle was located a short distance away and the alleged driver was Victor D. Schwartz, 38, of Butte.

At first, Schwartz denied being involved in the accident but later allegedly admitted he was involved. He was arrested for failure to give notice of accident by quickest means, probation violation, driving with a suspended driver’s license and an outside warrant.

Thursday bookings

—Donald H. Krieger, 54, of Butte was booked into the Butte Detention Center shortly before 6:15 p.m. on Thursday for violating a no-contact order.

—At around 1:20 p.m. on Thursday, James M. McKinley, 47, of Butte was booked into the Butte Detention Center for probation violation.

Victim punched

Eric T. Cardin, 25, of Butte allegedly punched a woman during a disturbance at a residence in the 2600 block of Colusa Street at around 3:20 a.m. on Thursday.

He was jailed for partner or family member assault causing bodily injury.

Just sitting

Just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, an officer was out on patrol in the 3300 block of Carter Street and saw John D. Crisler, 58, of Butte sitting on a porch.

Crisler had a warrant out for his arrest and was taken into custody without incident.

Walker accosted

A 79-year-old woman was out for a walk on Wednesday afternoon in the 3300 block of Harrison Avenue when suddenly, a woman later identified as Melinda S. Hull, 36, of Butte allegedly approached her and started yelling at her.

According to the police report, Hull also yelled obscenities, threatened her with physical assault and then grabbed the alleged victim by the arms. The woman out walking did not know Hull.

Officers found Hull in the 3700 block of Harrison Avenue where she reportedly admitted she was involved in an altercation. She was arrested for assault.

Outside warrants

Just after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a Montana Highway Patrol trooper arrested Anthony J. Leyva, 62, of Butte near the intersection of Dewey Boulevard and Harrison Avenue.

Two outside warrants had been issued for Leyva’s arrest.

Bike stolen

On Thursday morning, a bike chained to a truck in the 2000 block of Harrison Avenue was reported stolen. The thief cut the chain and then took the bike.

Morning mischief

Just after 3:30 a.m. on Friday, an inmate from the Butte Detention Center was taken to Intermountain Health St. James Hospital for treatment. The inmate reportedly took the pulse oximeter off his finger and then broke it.

Aggravated burglary

On March 14, Anna M. Bowers, 19, of Butte was jailed for aggravated burglary.

It is alleged she broke out a window at an apartment in the 900 block of West Granite Street. She also had a warrant out for her arrest.

Walk away

Joshua M. Penn, 43, a walkaway from the Connections program, turned himself in at noon on March 15.

Officers picked Penn up at Studio 6 Suites, 2100 Cornell Ave.

Drinking duo

Emily J. Keyser, 45, of Bozeman and Kasmir R. Spilis, 33, of Butte were arrested on March 11 after being warned three times throughout the day to quit their antics.

Officers responded to the Finlen Hotel where Keyser and Spilis were allegedly blocking the stairwell and drinking on it as well.

The duo was jailed for disorderly conduct, along with criminal possession of dangerous drugs (suspected methamphetamine) and drug paraphernalia.

DUI arrest

Just after 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Alexus M. Scott, 29, of Butte was booked into the Butte Detention Center.

Scott was arrested by a Montana Highway Patrol trooper. She was jailed for driving under the influence (fourth or subsequent offense), failure to obey a traffic control device and operating a vehicle with license plates not properly displayed.

Causing problems

At around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Kiera B. Yerkich, 23, of Butte was allegedly causing problems at Silver Bow Homes.

According to a police report, Yerkich attempted to break into a residence and cause a disturbance. She was reportedly highly intoxicated, belligerent and screaming obscenities.

When police arrived, Yerkich allegedly would not calm down and walked away from them. She was taken to jail for obstructing a peace officer.

MHP arrest

Bernard R. McKinney, 48, of Butte was taken into custody at about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday by an MHP trooper.

McKinney had a warrant out for his arrest.

Belligerent man

Daniel R. Stine, 55, was asked to the leave the Butte Rescue Mission, 610 E. Platinum St., at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

Stine reportedly refused and continued to scream profanities at staff and law enforcement. His refusal to cooperate landed him in jail for disorderly conduct and failure to disperse.

Deceptive practices

An officer saw Cody J. Richards, 30, of Bozeman at the Taco Bell Cantina, 1 N. Montana St., at around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Richards had a warrant out for his arrest for deceptive practices and was taken into custody.

Numerous offenses

A trooper with the Montana Highway Patrol took Laci L. Henderson, 55, of Butte into custody just after 5 p.m. on Monday.

Henderson was jailed for numerous offenses and warrants, including theft (third offense), assault, disorderly conduct, driving with a suspended driver’s license, being a habitual offender operating a motor vehicle, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal trespass to property, no insurance (fourth or subsequent offense), revocation of suspended sentence (nine offenses), along with a contempt warrant.

Burglars identified

Two people were arrested during the early-morning hours on Monday.

It is alleged Jamijo L. Martin, 37, of Billings and Gary M. Whipple, 47, of Butte entered an occupied home in the 300 block of West Granite Street.

After watching surveillance video, officers were able to identify the burglars and took Martin and Whipple into custody.

Resistant man

Just after midnight on Monday, Anthony J. Forsman, 24, of Anaconda was taken into custody following a call about a suspicious man in the 1000 block of South Arizona Street.

Forsman reportedly took off running when an officer tried to put him in the patrol car and continued to resist the officer’s efforts.

He was jailed for obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest and criminal possession of dangerous drugs (a syringe with suspected methamphetamine).
