Car lands on garage roof near Norris Hot Springs
For first responders in Madison County, Wednesday morning started with a jolt.
At 7:39 a.m., Madison County Sheriff’s Department received a call that a vehicle on Montana Highway 84 near Norris Hot Springs went off the road and landed on the roof of a garage. Public Information Officer Jennifer Martens said this call was the first of its kind since she’s been at the department.
“From what I understand most of our seasoned law enforcement officers haven’t even seen anything like this,” Martens told the Chronicle. “I thought the photo almost looked AI generated.”
Montana Highway Patrol took over the investigation after arriving on scene, Martens said. While the county is aware that one person was transported to the hospital for evaluation, Martens could not provide an update on the person’s condition.
What is clear from the photo, however, is the remarkably intact condition of the roof beneath the vehicle.
“That is a well-built garage,” Martens said. “It barely dented the roof.”
The Harrison Volunteer Fire, Madison County Emergency Management, and Madison Valley EMS assisted in response to the call, according to a Facebook post from Madison County Sheriff’s Department. The incident remains under investigation by MHP.
