Check out how the Unicycle Club rolls
Want to learn how to unicycle? Better yet, want to learn how to mountain unicycle? Well you are in luck. Last year Jordan Palmer, the self-proclaimed “idea guy,” and Karl Molina, the man who turns ideas into reality, started MSU’s Unicycle Club.
The club aims to teach people how to unicycle, while also giving experienced unicyclists an opportunity to improve their skills. “Most of all,” Palmer voiced, “we want to have fun.” The Unicycle Club currently meets every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. behind the new Rendezvous Dining Hall, which is subject to change depending on the weather. Typically, about a dozen people show up to each meeting, and individuals can stay as long or as short as they would like. Meetings are not mandatory, so it is usually a different group of people every time. Palmer added, “There are usually extra unicycles at the meetings, so you don’t need to own one in order to join.”
When asked what the coolest activity the club has done so far, Palmer replied, “A small group of the more experienced unicyclists have gone mountain unicycling. We got some weird looks from the mountain bikers.” Mountain unicycling is when unicyclists trek their unicycles up a trail and traverse down the rough terrain like mountain bikers.
Beyond unicycling, the club welcomes all people with unique skills such as juggling and solving Rubik’s cubes. If you want to check it out Palmer encourages people to, “drop by one of our meetings. Stay as long as you would like, and if you don’t know how to unicycle, we’ll teach you.”
