Cyclist Injured in Seventh Street collision

A bicyclist collided with a vehicle on Seventh Street near the Tamarack intersection on Sunday morning around 10:30 a.m.

It took emergency services about five minutes to respond to the incident, said Hal Richardson, the Bozeman Police Department patrol captain.

The cyclist, identified as an adult male, was air lifted from the scene. Richardson said he sustained “significant injuries.”

Video footage shared by U-Haul General Manager Reid Wherland shows the cyclist pulling out of the Cat’s Paw parking lot into southbound oncoming traffic.

As the rider pulls into the road, they move out of the camera’s view behind a propane tank. An oncoming truck can be seen entering from the left side of the frame.

The collision itself occurs behind the propane tank, with fragments of the bike and headlights flying into the air.

The truck driver did not sustain any injuries, but Richardson said they were “pretty shaken up”.

Firestone employees witnessed the collision, called 9-1-1, and performed triage on the cyclist.

When approached by the Chronicle, they declined to be interviewed, saying they wanted to “put the incident behind them.”
