Jakob Lundberg, 22, arrested in connection with downtown shooting

A shooting outside Rocking R Bar in downtown Bozeman early Monday morning left one person dead, Bozeman police say.

Officers were called to the area at 12:44 a.m., responding to a call that someone was shot and the suspect fled in a vehicle. According to a press release from Bozeman Police Department, officers located the victim upon arrival and began life-saving efforts.

“The suspect was quickly located, stopped, and placed into custody,” the release states. “The victim was transported to Bozeman Health Deaconess where they were pronounced dead.”

Based on the initial investigation, police took 22-year-old Jakob Lundberg into custody. Lundberg is currently being held at the Gallatin Detention Center, charged with deliberate homicide, criminal endangerment, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, according to the inmate roster.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

“Currently, there is no further risk to the public,” the release states. “This investigation is still ongoing at this time. The Bozeman Police Department mourns with our community over this tragic loss of life.”
