Jeff Probst Accidentally Spoils ‘Survivor 50’ Finale — What Did He Reveal?

Well, that’s live TV for you! Jeff Probst and the Survivor 50 live finale production accidentally spoiled the results of one of the last challenges of the season during the May 20 finale. The cast and audience’s reaction were caught live on-camera, too, followed by a funny save from Probst. Here’s what happened. Warning: Spoilers for the Survivor 50 finale ahead!

The Survivor 50 finale was intercut with the live finale on Wednesday night. Probst hosted the live event from the Paramount Studios lot in Los Angeles, and the entire Season 50 cast was there, except for Mike White. He appeared via video call because he’s busy filming The White Lotus.

The final tribal council vote had already aired when Probst’s spoiler went down.

Tiffany Ervin was the last person voted out of the game. Aubry Bracco won the final immunity challenge and decided to send Rizo Velovic and Jonathan Young into the fire-making challenge. Both of them lost their previous seasons (49 and 42, respectively) in the fire-making challenge. This is when things got messy.

Around 9:45 p.m. ET during the Survivor 50 live finale, Probst brought Rizo out for an interview. This was right before the fire-making challenge was going to play for millions of viewers. At the end of Probst’s interview with Rizo, the host revealed that he lost the fire-making challenge and told Rizo to join the jury on the live finale stage. Probst got some kind of alert from production and asked what happened, and then the cast told him that the fire-making challenge hadn’t aired yet. You could hear some boos from the crowd.

The show cut to a commercial break. When it returned, Probst delivered a funny save, saying that revealing Rizo’s fire-making challenge results was the “final twist” of the season. It got laughs out of the crowd, and then the fire-making challenge played.

Rizo lost the challenge to Jonathan. When the finale cut back to the live show, Probst was with Rizo again. Since his interview got messed up, he wanted to give the player a little more screen time.

Probst poked fun at himself again and told Rizo, “It was a pleasure to know you lost fire, and then watch you lose it.”

After another commercial break, Probst joked that he would let fans vote on whether or not to find out who wins before it happens in the episode.

The Survivor 50 winner will soon be revealed during the live show. Fingers crossed that’s the last of the spoilers!
