Library to screen documentary on country's aging wastewater infrastructure

The public library will screen "Unless Something Goes Terribly Wrong," a documentary that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the nation’s aging wastewater infrastructure and the people who work to keep essential systems running.

"Through humor and storytelling, the film highlights the challenges facing wastewater treatment facilities and the critical role they play in protecting public health," reads a city press release.

The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. May 20 and will be free and open to the public. Snacks will be provided courtesy of AE2S.

Following the screening, attendees will be invited to stay for a question-and-answer panel with local experts who will explain how these issues relate to infrastructure and operations in the Gallatin Valley and throughout the state.

The film includes mild coarse language, according to the city.

The screening is hosted by the City of Belgrade Public Works Department in partnership with the City of Bozeman Utilities, the Montana Section of the American Water Works Association, and the Montana Water Environment Association. The showing will be in celebration of National Public Works Week.

“This film provides an engaging and accessible look at an often-overlooked service that is vital to everyday life,” said Camaree Uljua, City of Belgrade Director of Public Works, in the release. “Public Works Week is a great opportunity to highlight the people and systems that keep our community functioning.”
