Every election comes with a lot of promises.

But every once in a while, a candidate comes along who reminds people why they got involved in politics in the first place.

That’s what I’ve seen with Alani Bankhead.

Over the course of this campaign, she has built something that people across Montana should pay attention to. Not because she’s the loudest voice in the room. Not because she fits a political mold. But because she has connected with people in a real way and made a compelling case for what Montana’s future can look like.

She has earned support the old-fashioned way: by showing up.

She has traveled this state and has listened more than she talks. By focusing her campaign on the things Montanans actually discuss around kitchen tables and in coffee shops, she won a primary.

I guess hard work does pay off.

A lifetime of leadership and public service has shaped how she approaches challenges. Those values come through in how she campaigns and in the vision she’s putting forward for Montana.

What excites me most about Alani’s candidacy is that she is speaking to something Montanans are hungry for right now: optimism.

The belief that we can lower costs and expand opportunity. That rural communities deserve investment. That young people should be able to build a future here. That government should solve problems instead of creating them.

At the Montana Democratic Party, we believe support should be earned.

Alani Bankhead has earned ours.

She has built a campaign with energy, a clear vision and firm stances. Alani knows who Montana is and where we can go next.

I’m proud to support her, and I’m excited about what her leadership could mean for Montana in the United States Senate.
