MSU's Spring Rodeo roundup

The MSU Spring Rodeo took place April 12-15 in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, with the Bobcats roping up victories in both men’s and women’s events. The rodeo was split into two separate competitions. The first rodeo ended with the MSU women’s team taking home first place and the men’s team earning second. The second rodeo came to a close with the men’s team grabbing first and the women’s team placing third.

At this point this season, the Big Sky region has completed seven rodeos. There will be 10 total before they attend the National College Finals Rodeo in June. As points sit currently, the Bobcats are atop the standings for both men’s and women’s in the Big Sky, with only three rodeos to go.

The Bobcats will travel to Miles City this upcoming weekend for another competition before traveling to Missoula next weekend. They will finish up in Great Falls over the first weekend of May.

Head Rodeo Coach Andy Bolich was extremely impressed with how his team performed this year and how much the rodeo has grown. “The teams did well overall with many students winning and placing all across the events,” Bolich said. This year’s rodeo brought in record attendance, with a sellout crowd Saturday night.

The spring rodeo brings in colleges from all across the state, and across the region as well. MSU–Northern Coach Doug Kallenberger brought his team down from Havre for the rodeo. “We always enjoy coming to Bozeman for the rodeo,” Kallenberger stated. “It’s one of the best college rodeos of the year.”

With the plethora of sports at MSU, the rodeo team is always a staple of the hard work and determination which defines MSU.
