Name of motorcyclist who died near Big Sky revealed

The 37-year-old female motorcyclist who died Saturday morning after failing to negotiate a turn on MT-64, has been identified as Mary Medford of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Medford, who lost control of her Yamaha motorcycle approximately three miles from the US-191 intersection, was pronounced dead at the scene.

After veering off the right side of the roadway, Medford and the Yamaha came to a rest on the side of the road.

Her head collided with the pavement. She was not wearing a helmet. Blunt force injuries caused Medford's death according to the Gallatin County Coroner's Office.

Road conditions were dry. It is unknown if drugs, alcohol, or speed were contributing factors in the incident. No other vehicles were involved.
