‘Partridge Family’ Star Danny Bonaduce Recalls Going to School With Michael Jackson
The Partridge Family actor Danny Bonaduce recently opened up about going to school with King of Pop, Michael Jackson, when they were both young stars.
On the May 28 episode of the Pop Culture Retro podcast, the former child actor — who played the red-headed middle brother, Danny Partridge, on the beloved musical sitcom — recalled attending the same school as the “Billie Jean” superstar.
Initially, Bonaduce and Jackson met at the Columbia Pictures studio campus in Hollywood while working on different projects. They ran into each other years later while attending the same school, “Cal Prep,” Bonaduce, 66, explained.
“I see Michael again, and you know, he was a pretty big star at that point,” he recounted. “Not what he would become, but he’s a pretty big star. And I just kind of held back a little. I said, ‘Nice to see you again,'”
Bonaduce continued, “I don’t know what he said, but one day he’s walking to the office, and I was walking probably out of the office because I was in trouble for something. And he’s walking by, and I look at him, I said, ‘You know, Michael, I’ve known you forever. How come you never speak?'”

To that, Jackson replied, per Bonaduce, “‘Because I’m in constant remembrance of God.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s cool, but what about chicks?’ … ‘Hey, what about chicks?’ Boom. Gone. Just gone like a ninja.”
Although Bonaduce said he never spoke to the “Thriller” singer again at the school, Jackson — who died at 50 in 2009 — invited him and his children to his home years later.
The Partridge Family aired for four seasons from 1970 to 1974 on ABC. In addition to Bonaduce, it starred Shirley Jones, David Cassidy, Susan Dey, Suzanne Crough, Dave Madden, Brian Forster, and Jeremy Gelbwaks.
