Public invited to National Trails Day event May 30

Gallatin Valley Land Trust (GVLT) invites community members to celebrate National Trails Day at its largest volunteer event of the year this Saturday, which includes a free barbecue.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 30 at Gallatin County Regional Park.

The family-friendly event will feature a variety of trail and park maintenance projects suitable for all ages and abilities, according to a GVLT press release.

“Every year we look forward to spending time with fellow outdoor enthusiasts preparing our local trails for a great season ahead,” said GVLT Trails Director Matt Parsons in the release. “This year, we’re excited to focus our efforts on Bozeman’s west side at the community’s beloved Gallatin County Regional Park.”

Event schedule and details

• 8:30 a.m. – Check-in: Fuel up for the morning with snacks and coffee generously provided by Ghost Town Coffee. The check-in tent will be located on the south side of Vaquero Parkway, between Davis Lane and Tschache Lane. Parking is limited, so please consider walking, biking, or carpooling.

• 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Trail Projects: Volunteers will tackle a range of projects across the park. Advanced registration for specific projects is highly encouraged. To sign up, visit https://www.gvlt.org/events/national-trails-day-2026.

• 12:30 – 2 p.m. – Summer Trails Challenge Kickoff BBQ: Celebrate a job well done and kick off the 11th annual Summer Trails Challenge with a free community BBQ courtesy of Yellowstone Bank.
