Do you like swimming? Are you interested in trying out water polo? Come test the waters with MSU’s Water Polo Club.

The club officially started in 2015 and consists of about 20 members. They practice Sundays at 11:15 a.m. in the Marga Hosaeus Fitness Center pool. Garrett Allamian, the club president, encourages anyone who is interested, regardless of experience, to stop by. In the past, the water polo team has had the opportunity to compete against various teams in the area. “Water polo in Montana is nearly non-existent,”as Allamian puts it. Because of this they have no official season. He then went on to say, despite its scarcity, “Our club has had the opportunity to promote the sport across campus and throughout the state when we have traveled for games.” The club is slated to compete in a tournament at the University of Idaho in early October.

Allamian talked about his experience with the club, stating, “I personally joined because I loved playing in high school and wanted to continue playing in college, regardless of the level at which that was.” The small club is a great way to continue your water polo career, or try something new. Allamian added, “The Water Polo Club is open to anyone, if you aren't afraid of the water we can teach you how to play polo. We have some extremely experienced players on the team that work well with those who don't know the game in order for them to learn it and feel more comfortable playing. If you don't know anything about water polo, it is an amazing and competitive sport, and a lot of fun to play.” So, dip your toe in to see if you sink or swim and check out the MSU Water Polo Club.
