Three Forks FFA members recognized at convention

Several Three Forks FFA members were honored at a recent convention.

Claire Emens took the took fourth place in the Junior Creed Speaking Event at the 96th annual Montana FFA State Convention held March 31 to April 4 in Great Falls. Additionally, Kortney Merritt took Bronze in her proficiency area, Rylee Smith and Colton Schmitt were awarded their State FFA Degrees, and Savannah Emens was recognized as a State Proficiency Award Winner.

Savannah Emens, a former Three Forks FFA member, was named a Montana FFA State Proficiency Winner in the area of Veterinary Science. A state FFA proficiency winner is an FFA member recognized at their state convention for having a top-tier Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) in a specific agricultural category, according to a statement from Three Forks Public Schools.

“They are chosen for exceptional skills, record-keeping, and mastery in areas like entrepreneurship, placement, or research,” reads the statement.

Three Forks FFA member Prestin Douglas was announced as the recipient of a Montana FFA SAE Grant. State SAE grants (Supervised Agricultural Experience) are awards for FFA members in grades 7-12 to start or expand agricultural projects, according to Three Forks Public Schools.

“These grants are primarily based on financial need, helping students fund projects like livestock, greenhouses, or agribusinesses,” reads the statement. “They provide hands-on experience, career skill development, and financial management.”
