'Very ill' woman reported missing in Bozeman found dead in wetlands

A 56-year-old woman who had been reported missing in Bozeman on Feb. 17 has been found dead in a wetlands west of town, the Bozeman Police Department said in a release Friday.

Augusta Old Crow's body was found Tuesday with drone technology near Baxter Lane and Sacco Drive, the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office said in a release. Old Crow's family had last reported having contact her Feb. 10 and told police she had "complained of feeling very ill."

BPD found Old Crow's camper in the area of North 15th Avenue and West Oak Street.

“Given the unique location and circumstances, Bozeman Police Detectives, in conjunction with the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office/Coroner, conducted a thorough investigation,” said Anthony Hutchings, Bozeman Police Department detective captain. “Evidence obtained during this investigation indicated Old Crow’s death was the result of a preexisting medical condition, not a criminal act.”

The official cause of death will eventually be provided by the Montana Medical Examiner’s Office, BPD said.
