I was born in Great Falls, grew up in Dillon, Victor and Helena, and graduated from high school in Miles City. With deep, personal Montana roots, I’ve lived and worked all over our state as a prosecutor, nonprofit leader, and budget watchdog.

I’m Kurt Alme. I’m running for U.S. Senate to make life more affordable, make our communities safer, and protect our Montana way of life.

I’m not a career politician. I’ve never run for office before. I’m stepping up to serve because Montana is my home, and I want our kids and grandkids to have an even better life than we had, with the same freedoms and values that we hold dear. And I have the record to deliver.

As Montana’s Department of Revenue director, I spearheaded the largest income tax rate cut in state history — cutting the top rate nearly 40%. As Montana’s budget director, I helped cut wasteful spending, balance the budget, deliver one of Montana’s largest tax cuts, and make Montana debt-free. After all, it’s not the government’s money — it’s yours. As your senator, I will put more money back in your pocket to make life more affordable.

We’re $39 trillion in debt and cannot keep digging a deeper hole. To lower inflation, we must end Washington’s reckless spending. That’s why the first bill I will introduce as senator is simple: if Congress can’t balance the budget, they don’t get paid. No balanced budget, no paycheck!

What we did in Helena is what we need to do in Washington: balance the budget by going department by department, agency by agency, line by line, and determine what we can truly afford, just like Montana families must do.

Washington loses up to 10% of the entire federal budget — hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars every year — to waste, fraud, and abuse, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. As a former fraud prosecutor, I know we can save taxpayer dollars by aggressively going after fraud and improper payments.

President Trump nominated me to serve as United States Attorney for Montana twice because he knew I would stand for law and order. Under my leadership this past year, criminal prosecutions hit a 20-year high and made our communities safer.

Working with law enforcement, we focused on the drug traffickers, cartels, and criminal organizations invading our country and killing Americans. We locked up violent criminals, stopped white-collar criminals and fraudsters from preying on hardworking Montanans, and fought to address the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons crisis to protect women and children.

In Montana, we don’t defund the police — we back the blue and lock up violent criminals. As your senator, I will keep our borders secure, support law enforcement, crush the cartels, and reduce the demand for drugs with prevention and treatment.

And I’m running to protect our Montana way of life with commonsense policies. That means taking care of our veterans, defending the Second Amendment, keeping boys out of girls’ sports, supporting farmers and ranchers, protecting public lands, and securing our elections.

Requiring voter identification and proof of citizenship is common sense. As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we must ensure that the fate of our nation for the next 250 years is decided by Americans — and only Americans —in secure elections.

As I travel the state, the best part of this campaign is hearing from folks where they live and work, seeing old friends and making new ones, and working hard to earn the votes of all Montanans. What I hear is that folks want leaders who will put Montana first and protect our values.
