What to binge next: “Ozark”

*Spoilers ahead!

If you think of money laundering and envision loads of cash hidden in the deepest cracks of mattresses and walls after being worn down in a washing machine, then all I have to say is watch “Ozark.” Especially the new season.

You would think people who get away with laundering money live luscious lives, spending all the money they wash up on houses and cars. According to “Ozark,” that’s just about the opposite of what they do, especially the Byrde family.

Fans had to wait two years for season four’s arrival, left anticipating what would come next after Wendy had her own brother killed and Helen was murdered by the show’s Navarro cartel. However, this was the least of the Byrdes’ concerns this season given their very busy schedule trying to stay alive.

I was astounded at how annoying Wendy got this season. She was already pushing my buttons the last two seasons. After she tried to get Jonah into legal trouble because he was helping Ruth out with laundering her money, I was over her. The kid had been through enough mourning the loss of his uncle, especially since his own mother was to blame. Don’t even get me started with how Wendy thinks she runs the show.

Marty on the other hand, is still carrying the show in my opinion. I mean obviously, he’s the director and main character, but he’s also the glue holding together his broken family. Thanks to Wendy’s psychotic behavior and the cartel and FBI constantly being on their tail, he’s having to hold them together much more now.

Ruth, my favorite character, lived up to her reputation of being the most untouchable firecracker you’ve ever seen. She’s the last person I would want as my enemy and the first for my partner in crime.

I could go on forever about well developed characters in this show but I want to get to the meat on the bone. The last couple of episodes of this season had me spitting out my water.

Marty just about died when they imprisoned Omar Navarro, but thankfully he didn’t or else I would have to stop watching this show. They can’t let Wendy become the main character now. 

Darlene and Wyatt got married, ignoring their concernedly large age gap. Actually, I would use the word off-putting, given Wyatt is still a teen and Darlene is just about on her deathbed.

With part two of this season coming soon, I can only hope for so many things to happen. 

First things first, I want Wendy to get a slap in the face and realize she is not in charge and just makes everyone's lives harder. I want Charlotte and Jonah to get out now while they still can, before their lives are doomed to this lifestyle forever. As for Marty, I want him first to mend his relationship with Ruth and get her out of the money-laundering mess as well. Even though I have to say seeing Ruth avenge her cousin's death would be quite the entertainment. 

Unfortunately, what I want from part two is most definitely not going to happen. In fact, I think we are in for unexpected plot twists and more deaths. Luckily we have time to buckle up and get prepared before the second season is released on April 29.
