1 person killed, 1 injured after exchange of gunfire in Columbia Falls
UPDATE: May 11, 2026 at 3:30 p.m.
One person was killed and another injured after the two parties exchanged gunfire on Dawn Drive in Columbia Falls Monday morning, according to a press release from the Flathead County Sheriff's Office (FCSO).
FCSO said both individuals sustained gunshot injuries. One was pronounced dead at the scene.
An active investigation is underway. FCSO said no further information would be released at this time.
COLUMBIA FALLS, Mont. - Flathead County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) deputies responded to reports of shots fired on Dawn Drive at around 7:09 a.m. on Monday.
FCSO said in a social media post that an active investigation is underway.
"At this time, there is no known risk to the community and the scene has been secured," FCSO wrote. "Community members are encouraged to utilize alternate routes and avoid the immediate Dawn Drive area while investigators process the scene.
