MISSOULA COUNTY, Mont. - One person was killed in a boating accident on the Clark Fork River near Clinton on Monday, according to a press release from the Missoula County Sheriff's Office. MCSO said a boat with "multiple occupants" overturned into the fast-moving cold water.

Over 25 personnel responded from multiple different agencies to assist.

MCSO said one person was not able to make it back to shore and was swept away downstream. They were found using aerial resources and "advanced medical care" was administered, but the individual did not survive.

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to all family, friends, and all those impacted by this tragedy," MCSO wrote.

The sheriff's office also issued a reminder for all water recreationalists to wear life jackets and "recreate with great caution."

"River conditions can be misleading; with spring storms and winter snowmelt, waterways are running high, fast, and cold," MCSO said.
