Armed assault call leads to deputy shooting near Hungry Horse Reservoir

MARTIN CITY, Mont. — The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said deputies responded to a reported assault involving a weapon in the Emery Bay area of the Hungry Horse Reservoir.

Upon arrival, the sheriff’s office confirmed a shooting by at least one deputy. The suspect died. No deputies were hurt.

No other details were released.

The Kalispell Police Department said it would handle the independent investigation under standard protocol, according to FCSO.
