Blackfeet agriculture efforts aim to grow local food access

BROWNING, Mont. — The Blackfeet Agriculture Department has launched new efforts to rebuild local food systems and create more agricultural opportunities.

The department established a tribal herd, bought chickens and planted up to 70 pounds of potatoes this year.

Plans are also underway to expand planting and add more vegetables through the growing season.

The Blackfeet Tribal Business Council said the "Field of dreams" project was an investment in food sovereignty and future generations.
