Butte police blotter: Broken window, outstayed welcome, dribbling duo, DUI, dumpster diving

Bad decision

Just after 6 a.m. on Thursday, Jon D. Stolp, 61, of Kalispell had outstayed his welcome at Safeway, 310 W. Front St., and police were called.

Stolp was told by officers to leave, and he did, but a short while later, he decided to return. That decision led to his arrest for criminal trespassing to property and obstructing a peace officer by providing a false name.

On the way to the Butte Detention Center, Stolp allegedly threatened the arresting officer and while being booked, reportedly got into an argument with another inmate and tried to kick him. For those antics, he was also jailed for disorderly conduct and threatening an officer.

DUI arrest

At around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Chantell M. Azure, 42, of Butte was arrested in the 1600 block of “C” Street, for allegedly driving under the influence.

She was also jailed for no liability insurance (second offense) and driving with a suspended license (second offense).

Dribbling duo

At 4:15 on Wednesday, two teenage boys were playing basketball in the 2400 block of Walnut Street. It was a little too early in the morning for the neighbors and an officer arrived and told the dribbling duo to head on home.

Culprit confessed

At around 1 a.m. on Thursday, fireworks were heard on Juniper Acres Road and police arrived to investigate. A man came out of his home, confessing he was the culprit. Police told the man he couldn’t do that anymore and he said he wouldn’t.

Out driving

In the early morning hours on Friday, Allen D. Perry, 44, of Butte was driving around Jackson and Caledonia streets and was pulled over by an officer.

Three warrants had been issued for Perry’s arrest, and he was taken into custody. He was also jailed for criminal possession of dangerous drugs (a baggie of suspected methamphetamine), no liability insurance, driving with a suspended driver’s license, failure to have headlamps illuminated and failure to have two headlamps properly operating.

In custody

—Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Brandon J. DeShazo, 46, of Butte was taken into custody for probation violation, violating release conditions and a Montana Highway Patrol warrant.

—Late Wednesday afternoon, an officer did a walkthrough at the Richest Hill Casino, 20 W. Galena St., and saw Richard A. Madplume, 45, of Butte. Madplume was wanted for absconding and was taken into custody.

—Officers arrived in the 100 block of Foxtail Lane at 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday to take into custody John Scott, 43, of Butte on warrants for criminal possession of dangerous drugs, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

—Shortly before noon on Wednesday, John F. Leathers, 47, of Butte was taken into custody at the Butte-Silver Bow County Courthouse on a warrant out of Ravalli County.

Dumpster diving

An officer witnessed two women throwing items out of a dumpster at around 11:50 p.m. on Thursday in the 800 block of South Wyoming Street. The officer stopped and told the women to pick up the items and return them to the dumpster.

One of the women was Brittney N. Johnson, 32, of Butte, who had seven warrants out for her arrest (six out of B-SB County and one out of Gallatin County). She was taken to jail.

Morning arrest

At 8 a.m. on Tuesday, officers arrived at a residence in the 2000 block of Silver Bow Boulevard to assist Adult Probation & Parole in the arrest of William R. Daniels, 49, of Butte.

Daniels was taken into custody for criminal possession of dangerous drugs, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia and parole violation

Jail bookings

—Ryan A. Hidalgo, 42, of Butte was booked into the Butte Detention Center at around 3 p.m. on Monday for violating his release conditions.

—Jacob W. Uhde, 27, of Butte was booked into the Butte Detention at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday for parole violation.

—Just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Paul J. Rader Jr., 51, of Anaconda was booked into the Butte Detention Center for violating conditions of release.

Windows broke

—Just before 4 a.m. on Thursday, it was reported that a window at the Town Talk Bakery, 611 E. Front St., was broken.

—At 6:20 a.m. on Thursday, the side window of a 2010 Chevy Tahoe was reported broken while parked near Park and Jackson streets.

—Early Thursday evening someone allegedly broke off the side mirror of a 2011 Ford Focus while it was parked in the Park Street Parking Garage.
