Butte-Silver Bow County warns voters their ballot may have been rejected due to new signature requirement

BUTTE, Mont. - Butte-Silver Bow County is warning voters about an increased number of rejected ballots in the current school election due to a new signature requirement, and encouraged citizens to check the status of their ballot online before the deadline to resolve it.

The deadline to resolve rejected ballots is Wednesday, May 6 at 5:00 p.m.

"Due to the new birth year requirement on the signature envelope, we have an increased amount of rejected ballots for the school election," Butte-Silver Bow wrote on social media. Residents are now required to write their birth year on the envelope next to their signature. 

You can check the status of your ballot on the Montana Secretary of State website. 

"If you have a rejected ballot, you can resolve it by coming to the election office in the courthouse, 155 W Granite St, Room 208, or emailing a copy of your ID with the letter we mailed to clerkrec@bsb.mt.gov," the county wrote.
