California man killed in midnight crash Saturday on Interstate 90 east of Butte
A 35 year-old man from Palmdale, California, died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 just before midnight Saturday, Montana Highway Patrol announced Monday.
According to an MHP press release, the driver was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 near mile marker 227, the exit for Interstate 15 on Butte's east side. The Ford vehicle left the roadway and entered the median "with little to no steering input from the driver," according to MHP.
The vehicle skidded and collided with a bridge structure after traveling about 550 feet in the median, according to the accident report.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
MHP said it suspects speed was a factor in the crash.
