Cats dominate, win 52-10 at home

Behind an offensive explosion in the first quarter and not one, but two pick-sixes, the Bobcat football team defeated San Diego, 52-10, on Saturday, Sept. 18. The Cats got on the board first and often, scoring a touchdown on the first three drives of the game.

Throughout the first half, the Cats dominated both sides of the ball, securing five touchdowns from both the offense and the defense. Junior quarterback Matthew McKay threw for 224 yards of the Bobcats’ 540 total yards. The Cats also picked up a whopping 305 yards on the ground thanks to the efforts of the offensive line, who controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the entire game. Junior running back Isaiah Ifanse accounted for 109 yards, averaging 10.9 yards per carry.

The defense put on a show in the second quarter thanks to two pick-sixes from junior defensive back Ty Okada and senior outside linebacker Troy Anderson. Senior defensive end Daniel Hardy recorded three tackles for loss, with 1.5 of those being sacks.

The Cats will look to replicate this all-around performance when the team travels to Portland, Oregon to take on the Portland State Vikings on Saturday, Sept. 25. This will mark the first conference game of the season for the Cats and can be viewed on ESPN+ at 3:05 p.m. MT.
