Cats tame the Bison in dominant 68-49 win

The Bobcats (6-4) took on the visiting North Dakota State (NDSU) Bison (5-4) in Worthington Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 7, coming away with a 68-49 win. The Cats were propelled to victory by standout performances from RaeQuan Battle and Abdul Mohamed. Battle led the team in scoring, registering 16 points and shooting 7-9 from the field and 2-2 from behind the arc. Mohamed notched a team-high 13 rebounds and five assists. 

A stout defensive performance limited the Bison to one of their worst offensive performances. The Cats limited NDSU to 49 points, the team’s lowest offensive output since they took on the 11th ranked Arizona Wildcats. The Bison shot a mere 33.3% from the field while the Cats made 44.1% of their attempted shots. 

NDSU is the first Division I team to travel to Bozeman to face the Cats this season. In the lead-up to the game, Head Coach Danny Sprinkle touted the tough opponents the Cats have played on the road and explained his excitement about playing in front of the Bobcat faithful. "The most important thing for us is to get to be able to play in front of our fans," Sprinkle said. "It'll be awesome after playing our first eight Division I games on the road. We'll be playing a quality opponent. North Dakota State does a tremendous job, they're super disciplined, they do not beat themselves."

The Cats now turn their attention to St. Thomas University. The team will travel to St. Paul, Minn. to take on the Tommies on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. To watch the game visit tommiesports.com. The next Cats home game will be Sunday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. when the Cats face the Portland Pilots. MSU faced Portland early in the season during the Cardinal Thanksgiving Classic, where the Cats downed the Pilots 69-66 en route to a tournament championship win.
