Bozeman

The largest public event is the annual Fourth of July fireworks display at Gallatin County Fairgrounds.   Source: Bozeman Magazine

  • Fireworks begin around 10:00 PM  
  • Produced by Bozeman Fire and community partners  
  • Visible from many areas around the Gallatin Valley  
  • One of the largest public fireworks displays in Southwest Montana  

 

Butte 

July 3 – Freedom Festival Fireworks 

Big M Above Montana Tech 

  • The signature event is the annual Freedom Festival fireworks display launched from the base of Butte's famous "Big M." Local tourism and city officials regularly describe it as one of Montana's premier fireworks shows. Fireworks typically begin around 10:00 p.m. or at dark   

July 4 – Freedom Festival Parade 

  • The Fourth of July Parade begins at approximately 10:00 a.m. and runs from the Butte Civic Center area down Harrison Avenue. City officials describe it as one of Montana's best-attended Independence Day parades.  

 

Great Falls

Celebrate your independence in downtown Great Falls wit the annual 4th of July parade and following Hootenanny.

  • Parade starts on 1st Ave. S and 8th St. heading north on Central Ave at 11 am 
  • Hootenanny starts at 1 pm
  • Fireworks show starts at 10:15 pm with viewing available at Elks Riverside Park and Gibson Park

Great Falls Voyagers baseball

  • Game starts at 7 pm vs the Billings Mustangs

Helena

Fort Missoula 4th of July Celebration

  • Located just down the road, this annual event takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The celebration features live music, food trucks, old-fashioned children's games, antique engine displays, wagon rides, and tours of historical buildings.

University of Montana America 250 Activities 

  • The Mansfield Center has been developing America 250 programming and educational initiatives leading up to July 2026. While not necessarily centered on July 4 itself, expect lectures, discussions, and civic-engagement events tied to the semiquincentennial.
