Clinton fire volunteers juggle labor emergency and mountain fire

CLINTON, Mont. — Volunteers with the Clinton Rural Fire District responded to two emergencies at once Tuesday evening when a pregnant woman in labor headed to the Clinton Fire Station while crews also answered a reported lightning-caused wildfire near Rock Creek and Interstate 90.

According to a Facebook post from the district, the woman called 911 around 5 p.m. near Beavertail while driving from Anaconda to Missoula and asked to meet firefighters at the station.

At the same time, crews received a report of a wildfire on the mountain near Rock Creek and I-90.

The fire district said four volunteers responded. One rode with the woman in an ambulance to Community Medical Center while another followed behind. A third monitored the fire until DNRC arrived, and a fourth remained on radio standby for additional calls.
