Construction on Sportsman's Bridge will reduce traffic to one lane, delays expected
BIGFORK, Mont. - New concrete is set to be poured into the foundation of Sportsman Bridge on Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21, according to a press release from the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT). Traffic will be reduced to a single lane directed by flaggers and temporary traffic signals.
A 10-foot width restriction will also be in place during construction. Wider vehicles will need to find an alternate route, according to MDT.
Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes when crossing the bridge.
"Crews will pour concrete to form the upper elements of the bridge piers, known as caps," MDT said. "This work will take place on both the in-water piers and the onshore bridge-end abutments."
