East Glacier sewer failure prompts emergency declaration / Blackfeet Tribal Business Council

BROWNING, Mont. — Blackfeet Tribal Business Council declared a state of emergency on April 24, 2026, after the East Glacier sewer lagoon system failed and created what officials described as an immediate risk to public health, safety and the environment.

According to a release, nearby waterways and homes in the East Glacier area could be affected. It also said site assessments had been completed with environmental and water program officials as response planning moved forward.
