Fairfield eases water limits as town looks for lasting supply

FAIRFIELD, Mont. — Water restrictions in Fairfield are easing up as water levels rose in the town’s wells.

Mayor Loren Tacke said residents can water every other day while businesses return to normal operations.

He also said he appreciates local business partners and the community for working together during the water shortage.

Tacke said the problem has not been solved and Fairfield still faces a longer-term challenge.

"This is not an issue that's going to go away, it's an issue that goes away when the ditch runs, but Fairfield needs to come up with a more sustainable water source, we're going to be basically in the same situation this spring and this fall," Tacke said.

Tacke said he was working with city officials and Great West Engineering out of Helena on a feasibility study as part of a long-term solution to the water shortage.
