Former Bitterroot assisted living facility staffer accused of felony elder exploitation

A Darby man is accused of taking $16,000 from a nursing home resident while he was employed at a Bitterroot assisted living facility.

23-year-old Trevor Anthony Robert Hudson was charged with two felony counts of exploitation of an older or incapacitated person in Ravalli County Justice Court on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office received a referral from the Montana Department of Justice in October of 2023 to investigate the possibility of elder exploitation and theft at Arron Home Care in Corvallis, according to charging documents.

Hudson allegedly used accounts belonging to a then 81-year-old memory care resident at the Corvallis assisted living facility to purchase a truck from Quality Motors in Hamilton for $14,000 according to charging documents. Other alleged expenditures include a deep freeze from Fred's Appliance, credit card transactions for gas station trips, AutoZone purchases and car washes. Law enforcement found $16,000 worth of questionable charges according to charging documents.

The resident’s family removed the woman from Arron Home Care in spring of 2023 and confronted them about the charges, according to court records, and in March of 2023 Hudson signed a repayment plan to repay the $14,000 in monthly $1,000 installments. The family told law enforcement they have only received one or two checks from Hudson in the years since.

Hudson reportedly admitted to accepting money from the woman to buy the truck from Quality Motors when questioned by investigators. According to charging documents, Hudson told law enforcement the woman had given him her credit card, and also allegedly admitted to using it at gas stations, AutoZone and to purchase the freezer from Fred’s Appliance.

Hudson is no longer employed by Arron Home Care. The Ravalli Republic reached out to Arron Home Care but the facility chose not to comment on the case.

No bond was set and Hudson was released on his own recognizance.
