BIG SKY, Mont. — A stretch of the Gallatin River near Markley Bridge has reopened after an emergency closure tied to a U.S. Forest Service bridge replacement project, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Park (FWP) announced.

The closure had been in place for public safety during parts of the Markley Bridge replacement work, which started in March.

Boating between the Upper Deer Creek boat launch, just upstream from Markley Bridge and the Portal Creek boat launch was blocked.

FWP said later phases of the project could bring temporary closures back later this summer.
