Grinnell Glacier Trail closed after hiker surprised bear in Glacier
GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, Mont. — A surprise encounter between a hiker and a bear on the Grinnell Glacier Trail occurred May 28, Glacier National Park officials confirmed today.
According to public affairs specialist Autumn Sifuentes, National Park Service personnel and emergency services responded to the incident. Park staff temporarily closed the Grinnell Glacier Trail while they assessed conditions.
The trail will reopen when park staff determine it is appropriate.
