Gunfire investigation on East Broadway draws police response
Missoula, Mont. — Missoula police were investigating a shooting on East Broadway after residents reported hearing multiple gunshots just before 1 a.m. on April 29.
Police responded to the 500 block of East Broadway after getting multiple reports of shots fired. Officers detained two people at the scene, a 25-year-old man and a 15-year-old.
Police reported that one of the two did not follow commands, which led an officer to use a Taser. Officers also found multiple spent shell casings in the area.
A woman who lives nearby said she heard the shooting outside her home and then watched the police response unfold.
“I heard a gunshot and then, a brief period of, yelling, and then 4 or 5 more gunshots were fired. So, I ran towards the back of my apartment to wake my sister up. And we came back out to sort of assess the situation and see if I needed to call the police, and then started seeing, police come, from the west here and start to canvass the area,” said Aase Hahn.
Police confirmed Hahn’s car, which was parked outside, was hit by gunfire during the incident. They also said both people who were detained were later released without charges.
No additional injuries had been confirmed. Police said the investigation remained ongoing.
