Havre and Rocky Boy fentanyl case ends with 5-year sentence

GREAT FALLS, Mont. — A Washington man was sentenced to five years in prison after admitting he took part in fentanyl sales tied to Havre and the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation, Acting U.S. Attorney Tim Racicot said in a release.

Timothy Harris, 56, pleaded guilty in November 2025 to conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver fentanyl.

Court documents said the conspiracy lasted from May 2023 to June 19, 2023. Investigators said Harris worked with others to bring drugs from Washington for sales tied to Rocky Boy’s while keeping the supply off the reservation.

The investigation said pills were sold in smaller batches to people on the reservation and in other places. Authorities said one source paid Harris $800 for 30 fentanyl pills on May 18, 2023 and picked them up from another person at a house on Rocky Boy’s.

Investigators also said a second controlled buy happened on May 31, 2023 at a hotel in Havre, where the source bought 20 fentanyl pills for $800. On June 15, 2023, authorities said Harris sent the source to a hotel parking lot in Havre, where a co-defendant sold 20 fentanyl pills for $800.

In a later search on June 19, 2023, law enforcement served a warrant at a motel room in Big Sandy rented by Harris’ co-defendant. Officers found 3,200 fentanyl pills, a Springfield XDM Elite 10mm handgun with a loaded 10-round magazine, another magazine, a box of 10mm ammunition, an SD card and $437 in cash.
