Helena History Festival marks full opening of Montana Heritage Center / Montana History Fest

HELENA, Mont. — The Montana Historical Society announced the Montana History Festival will run from Wednesday, June 24 through Sunday, June 28 to celebrate the full opening of the Montana Heritage Center.

The five-day event will bring free tours, hands-on workshops, live music, an Indigenous artisan market, traditional games, roundtable discussions and a featured event on the Capitol Lawn.

Activities will take place across Helena, and the Montana Historical Society said most events are free.

The society said the Montana Heritage Center first opened to the public in December 2025. In the months after that, the center added its café, the Larry Len and LeAnne Peterson Library and Archives, the Sovereign Nations Arbor and new artwork and landscaping.

The festival is meant to mark the completed opening and bring people from Helena and other communities together to experience the center.
